Kentucky Office of Energy Policy Releases Local Solar Ordinance Mapping Tool

On January 31, 2023, the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy released an interactive map covering current local solar ordinances and solar projects (both utility-scale and rooftop) that have been approved by the State Electric Generation and Transmission Siting Board. The map is meant to serve as a resource for local governments, solar developers, and residents regarding potential solar siting locations and projects already under development. For existing projects, information displayed on the map includes county, megawatt capacity, acreage, and other relevant details. According to the map, twenty counties and cities have adopted ordinances for solar development. It can be accessed here. An additional tool funded by the Kentucky Office of Energy Policy looked at siting solar projects at reclaimed minds. More information can be found here
