The Hawaii State Energy Office is one of nineteen State Energy Offices and other state and local agencies selected for award negotiations through funding from Round 1 of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Support for Energy Codes and Innovative Codes program. The Hawaii State Energy Office has been selected to receive $18 million to support the development and adoption of the state's Building Performance Standard (BPS). The BPS will improve the energy performance of the state’s largest commercial buildings (50,000 square feet and above) which currently account for approximately 80% of the state’s commercial energy usage and about 78% of total commercial building emissions.
